The battery is there. Look at the bottom of the frame in front of the rear tire. That square object is your battery. The rider makes a little box and that holds and shields the battery. The big thing missing there is massive oil tank. Most people will custom make a little tank and hide it under the seat.
Some other combos that people do are to get a lightened rotor and stator unit, I could go on.
As for getting rid of the battery, you cant for practical use. The 70s and I think 80s cb do not charge constantly, only above 2000rpm. So in traffic, without a battery, you must keep the rpm above 2000. Not good while idling. Some have fitted ARD magneto systems but they can be buggy and unreliable.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
