On the stock exhaust, there's a rolled rim on the end of the pipe, which gives those pieces something to grip to when the finned part is bolted to the block.

I would imagine there's a similar rolled rim on your aftermarket exhaust.  Check it and see.  If so, use the stock flanges and finned part, and you should be G2G.
