Rotor Removal

Hi folks,
I am working on my cb750k an am trying to remove the generator's rotor from the crank shaft before splitting the case. I don't have the special Honda removal tool and I have been trying to use the rear axel, which is supposed to do in the absence of the special tool. I have threaded in the axel but I have cranked it about as far as I am willing to at this point. Still the rotor has not budged.
Any ideas about how to get it off?
Not to mention, any ideas about how to get it back on during reassembly?
