Well, folks, I think the Avenger has given up the ghost. I don't have the time, patience, tools, or garage to put it all back together, so I'm offering it to you all first. After a few weeks, it'll go on my local Craigslist. I will get pictures up as soon as I get time to upload them somewhere. Check my other postings for details on the broken cam chain issue (back in August 2010).
Here's what I have so far:
1979 Honda CB750L (anniversary edition) DOHC parts bike for sale. Factory burgundy paint. 34000+ miles.
Selling due to broken main cam chain and lack of time and facilities to reassemble.
Bike engine is disassembled. New rings (not oversize), new rod bearings, new main bearings, rest of gasket kit. 2 new exhaust valves, rest of valves seal well. Head is disassembled: valves and keepers removed, cams show no wear, pistons look good. Cylinders are good, cases are split, and all bottom end components look good and worked well. Most internal parts are good. I have an extra used empty cylinder head. Missing a few pieces: final drive seal, oilpump
Clutch is good, alternator is good (slight damage to Molex connector), carbs have been cleaned and set to factory standards, airbox and boots are good, air filter has 2000 miles on it. Pulse generators and ignition system works well. All instruments and electrics work well.
Frame is complete: gas tank and side covers have anniversary emblems and are in good shape (some minor wear on side covers). Seat needs minor repair: cover is split near front. Gas tank has skight internal rusting. Air forks are good: no leaks. Front tire has 50% of tread, rear tire has 1500 miles on it (Bridgestone Spitfire S11 + tube). Comstar wheels and wheel bearings are good. Front chrome fender and factory 4 pipe exhaust are rust free. Front disk brake and rear drum both work well.
PM me via this forum for pricing and availability. Local pickup is preferred for the heavy pieces (frame, engine/trans, internals). I'm in central Ohio USA. If international, please contact me first to determine best shipping method. I'll have a Paypal account set up this week. Also, I travel for a living, so I may not be able to ship items on a moment's notice.
Thanks for looking.
Luke M
