I have two of them. Mine are both 76 models. They were made through 78. they use a torque converter like a car (actually it is one Honda designed in the early 60's for the Civic), and has two speeds. Low, and Drive. you select the speed you want (usually Drive), and go. It does not do any shifting though. It just stays in the gear you select.
It's ironic that they were not very popular when they came out, but now they are in demand. People want them for custom bikes. they are easy to build with. You do not need to do a clutch, forward shifter, or oil tank.
