What syncing the carbs is, is making them each pull the same vacuum. that way each cylinder is operating the same. You will need a set of gauges. I got mine on e-bay really cheap from this guy here

It is well worth having the gauges when, you do your own maintenance. It is very easy to sync the carbs. just remove the screws on the side of the carbs, and insert the brass tubes, and connect the gauges to these. Start the engine, and warm it up. Then set all the carbs to match the No#2 carb. You do this by adjusting the nuts on the top of the carbs.
