On a Voyager forum, Loctite was being discussed, and the consensus was that it was a good idea to secure most nuts, bolts, and the like, with Loctite to prevent things from coming loose, and causing an accident...  Today, Steve in Florida, who happens to be a professional mechanic, shared that he rarely uses Loctite products on any bike, and most certainly not on his own!  Instead, he smears some RTV silicone on the threads:  it is strong enough to prevent the nuts/bolts from vibrating loose, and when it is time to remove them, the RTV silicone just shreds, quite easily, without mucking anything up!

I was thinking about getting some Loctite Green, for securing nuts already in place, but this stuff requires localized heat to remove the nut/bolt later.  RTV silicone will prevent stuff from vibrating loose, but a determined effort to twist a nut/bolt, will just shred the silicone.  I thought Steve in Florida's idea was brilliant.  Sorry if this is 'common knowledge', but I've never heard it before, thought I would share.  Cheers!
