TOOLS!!! Re-Run!!! help me.

I bought this Bike in Feb, and it wasnt running very well. thanks to this site, and 4 months later, it was running like a champ. its a 78 750k with 20k miles.

recently ive been hearing a knocking sound coming from the bottom right of the engine, around the gearbox area. it only happens when i hold the clutch or when i dont use the throttle. i have searched this entire site, as well as other sites, and I wanna hear from the experts(TOOLS & RERUN).

 From what i read, it could be several things. some say its something in the engine that needs to be fixed, others say it could be carbs that need to be synched, or old CB's are just loud and its normal. I havent noticed anything different in the bikes performance. should i be worried the engine is going to blow up beneath me???, or just get the carbs synched???

I ride to work everyday but its only 3.5 miles. i know its an old bike, so i stay between 4-5k rpms, and havent gone over 65mph. yesterday i took my wife for a ride, and with the extra weight, the knocking noise is almost un noticeable.

One more thing, my tail light stopped working but my brake light still works. the light in the gauges stopped working as well, so i think the problem is related. all the wires are still connected, so is it the bike?? or should i buy a new tail light???

Please help me. Both my cars are in the shop, so I cant afford to send the bike also.
