Re-assembling the cylinder block

What tips do you all have for getting the cylinder block of a four cylinder back on the pistons.  I did it recently without any ring compression.  I managed it in the end but trashed a scraper ring in the process.  Between juggling the four pistons, cam chain tensioner, 12 piston rings, a base gasket that kept curling up and the cylinder studs, it seemed like I needed 6 hands
