Got a similar result from the old battery. It seems as though the juice is not making it to the starter like it should. Am I crazy in thinking this?

Sounds like the new battery just had enough juice for a couple of starts. They usually don't come fully charged of the shelf. It'll need to be charged up for 8 hours or so when you get your charger.
