This may be a little to late, and you may have synced your carbs already. I have a carbtune for
syncing carbs. I do not know how your homemade unit is made, but I have used Carbtune, and
manometer that uses mercury to adjust carbs both of these units use restricters to hold down vacum while adjusting carbs, without these the vacum will flucuate widley. If you go to their web site you can find the manual so you can see the restricters which is a small peice of tubing that looks solid but has very small hole that is placed in the tubing about 6" from the manometer its self furthest from the carb. The home
made unit probably has no restricters or dampening device. As far as adjusting I loosen the 1,3,4 carb
but not to loose. and start on carb 1 just turn in very small movement to see if liquid is going in the right
direction to match the no 2"s heigth in liquid. If I am correct turning screw clockwise to make liquid rise and counter clockwise to lower liquid. Do each carb, and come back if needed to readjust. Object is to get the carbs with all the carbs pulsating to the same height. If everything looks good tighten nut slowly and make sure the adjustment does not change the settings. You may have known all this but I was not sure if you got a answer yet.!!!! The carbtune is not cheap but it uses small metal rods instead of liquids.
