I just pulled my wheels to get new tires.  I cut a piece of 4x4 and took a 2x1" notch out of the end.  Put the notch under the front frame between the #2 & #3 cylinders and the bottom onto a scissor jack while the bike was on the center stand.  The 4x4 was about 22".  Worked beautiful!  Steady enough to wrassle the rear wheel out of the swing arm with the chain still in one piece.  Was able to fine adjust it to roll the front wheel in and get the axle through too.
In 1972 I had to make a choice...quit riding...or quit drinking.  God says it's safe to get back in the saddle now...at least I'm still alive...and feel more alive with the wind in my face!  Now riding "Helen Black"...1982  CB750SC.
