I got shimmed

Horrible thing happened tonight...

I dropped a shim down the camshaft


Am i justified in thinking this set me back about 9 months?

anyone have any experience on how to get something out that has been dropped inside?  i have tried to use a magnet but was very unsuccessful. probably will get better magnets for starters unless there are better ideas

any advice would be very appreciated, i think im gonna have to start asking questions about rebuilding the engine soon...

i definitely do not want to take apart the engine but is that the only solution?
