Cam chain noise AGAIN

Hi, my 82 cb750K is very noisy at tick over, Im sure its the cam chain. I have a gs450 with chain noise that I consider normal. I know its been asked before and will be again, but I tried to loosen the front and rear bolts to adjust the chain and nothing changed. Do they have to be loosened at the same time whilst bike is ticking over, can someone give it to me in very easy steps..I am not stupid, but sometimes the obvious can be overlooked.
