It is not an air leak if gas is in the float bowl. It is a gas leak!

If you put carb cleaner into the float bowl and it leaks,  you will have to repair it or replace it.

If it was mine I would get a gas proof epoxy two part,(gas tank liner epoxy) and repair the hole.
Make sure you clean the area of the hole to bright shiny aluminum.
Should be fine - test it before using. Let the epoxy cure for a couple days.
