My ideal would be another cb750, but I'm open to other bikes.
The cx500 sold, and now I'm looking at a 1982 yamaha maxim 550. They seem like bulletproof bikes and it looks like I can get a runner for $500. They say it just needs new tires for a cert - ya right.
Either way, that would probably be a good daily commuter to ride while I cafe my cb.
I've been doing some research on it and apparently the maxim 550 came with 1.10 inch HSR40 mikuni carbs.
Anyone know if those will work on the cb750? I've heard that the mikuni's are better in general and you can make them work easily with pods unlike the stock DOHC carbs. According to bike bandit parts lookup both the cb750 and 550 maxim use the Mikuni HSR40 carbs. Could be a really nice upgrade for my CB750 and a bank of 4 carbs alone will cost more than $500.
