Yeah, I've heard that from other folks as well. I'm thinkin' I may use the aluminum high temp paint and pass on using clear coat. My original plan was to clearcoat after blasting if the result was shiny enough. However, I've soda blasted the exterior of the engine which, while very clean, resulted in a dull finish.
I guess painting is the next best thing.
