Shiny, I am a percussionist and once made a practice pad (something to hit with sticks
) with some 1/4" rubber I purchased from an industrial supply company. I think they had it on a roll about 3 feet wide. I only purchased like 10" and it was dirt cheap -nice stuff too, not the kind of thing that would turn your jeans black.
