Wet and black means they are soaked with fuel. Either its just way too rich,or the ignition is weak.Most likely its just rich. Are you still running the 145 jets? Those things are huge! I have mine with 125 mains and the idle screw out 1 1/2 turns. Mine is a tad rich at idle,but since these round top carbs are known for an off idle stumble,it helps to be a tad rich. I know you dont want to hear it,but if you are still running those 145's that is probably the cause of it.
