I bought a 2-gauge set off of EBay for about $40. Here is the link to what I bought.

Mine came with adjustable in-line restrictors, which served to damp down the needles a little, but not so much as to impede the vacuum.  Luckily, my Shadow has a reserve tank, so I waited until the RESERVE light came on, pulled the tank, pulled the screws going to the sync ports, hooked up the brass tubes, connected the gauges, and 20 minutes later it was dialed in. Pull the tubes, screw screws back in, put the tank back on, and road test.

Remember to check the sync at idle, part throttle (2-3K rpm), and higher (5-6K rpm).  You're looking for a good overall sync reading in different areas.  It's a balance/compromise.

Picked up a few more miles per gallon, the deep thrum on deceleration is back, and the bike accelerates and runs better.

Granted, mine is a v-twin, and the inline 4 will take a bit longer, but it's worth it.
