Yeah, but as an everyday technique it endangers everyone. Example of last summer, I was in my van, passing a couple of slower vans, they were only doing 100kph, I was doing 120kph. Pretty much out of nowhere some mush-head on a crotch rocket split between us at I'm guessing 150-160. Scared the mellow out of the really old guy I was passing and he had trouble keeping it straight. Just as he was getting it back under control, two more screamed between us. When I checked my mirror there were three more behind me with brains enough to wait until I finished passing.

Lane splitting may be OK in daytime gridlock, but at highway speeds it 's just plain stupid.
