Buying a rectifier regulator

I want to update the electronics on my 1978 cb750, a cafe build in progress.  I noticed the silicon rectifier had some melted wire coatings so I figured I'd start there.  I've seen new regulator-rectifiers online which I'm interested in.  I'm assuming that this one part will replace both the silicon rectifier and the regulator which according to the FSM are two separate parts.  Am I correct in this assumption?  From looking online it seems that people sometimes (mistakenly?) use these terms interchangeably.  I don't want to buy this part, which is close to $100, and have it only replace my silicon regulator.
