I would do my best to use point "A' as the main place to hold to with pad closer the better.
Let me say why,or the rear (my disc) I can fill my tire or(rear) frame wont to move to the right(disc on right)
I use my front most always ,But had to be sure wouldn't lock up so hit it hard a few times. weight of the bike caliper/piston wonting to rotate twards that "new" strap going to have some push,I'd be worried about it tweaking,and maybe staying tweaked. ..Just my 2 cents worth keep the change.

About the bleeder being in wrong possition ,most all bike newer calipers have same cast L or R just hole taped in one end ony,can be taped for bleeder ,leave other closed.It's just a hole.
