I don't believe that it is purple ,Looks to me like oxidized real bad blue,
But,I've been wrong 1's before,Take some rubbing compound to it in a lil spot(couple times)it is work,
then wet or wax to put gloss on,Maybe purple ,no matter I say paint the mother "p.....".
Nice start for the bike.
