They are very effective.  I installed one from a CB900C onto my '79 CB750K.  It dropped the oil from a routine operating temperature of 250 F, to an average of 210 F, under heavy load, running at highway speed (60-65 MPH).  It makes a huge difference in the life of the engine, and the oil.
