Ah, gotcha. Since I have to buy all new lines, I was kind of thinking of running on long line down to the right side, double up on that side have one short line loop over the fender to the left side caliper. Like modern sport bikes (or at least like mine, 2008 GSX-R 600). But again, just want to understand what it does first. If all it does is split, then the modified setup will function just the same.

As for the splitter. If, you don't want to use it. Don't. It won't hurt anything. Also my 81 is a K model, and only has a single disc front break, so no splitter.
