79 cb750 rattle at low rpms

Hello, recently purchased a 79 cb750k. 15k mi. 1 owner. good shape and garage kept. When I got it home it did not run, put in a new battery and drained oil. Found over 2 gallons of gas in engine case. The previous owner said he has been trying to start it since last year. Pulled carbs and found #68 jet in the bottle of bowl # 1.  Cleaned carbs really good, put in new plugs and new oil. also replaced passage plugs where the jets are pressed in since they did not look healthy. Bike started up no issues. Smoked a bit for a 5 minutes, then it cleaned up..  I have two issues I am dealing with...

1.) I hear a rattle at low rpms and it sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine more so on the left side. at 1500-2000rpms the rattle is reduced significantly. it has a 4 - 1 exhaust.

2.) When riding the bike, deceleration produces a spitting/popping sound.

I am not an expert, but I got myself this far with no assistance. However, I know my limits and I am in need of assistance. Any suggestions?
