It was time to change my oil so I put in 5 oz's of seaform and took the bike around the block (neighbours would not like it running in my driveway for 5 min after 10pm).

After I drained the oil and removed the filter I decided to also change the oil pan gasket as I suspected that it was leaking and that now was as good a time as any to do it.  Getting all of the old gasket off took a lot longer than I thought it would.  I used a gasket scraper, and next time I think I'll find some chemicals to make the job a lot easier.

Anyways, here are some pics of what I found in the oil pan.

Bits of gasket material and aluminium:

What might be what's left of an o-ring?  Hopefully just some gasket sealer that peeled off.

A pic of just the aluminium.

I'm guessing that the aluminium that I found is the remnants of the mess I described on this thread: http://honda-cb750-s.456789.n3.nabble.com/Heli-coil-Timesert-question-td3931333.html#a3936251

I'm hoping that it's not something more serious, but I guess there is no way to know until I pull the engine apart.
