Sigh, nevermind.  After I took the gaskets off I recalled that tools mentioned in another thread that the gaskets should go on the opposite way that I had them on there (been that way since I got the bike).  So I tried turning it back around and damn if it doesn't fit super snug.   I turned the rest around and took it for a spin.

Ya that fixed all of my exhaust leak issues and a few more (idle seems smoother now, etc).

Thanks for all the offers anyways guys.  Genuinely appreciate all of the goodwill here.
