Thanks for the props! I will try and get you all caught up without loosing too much detail on how I got to where I am today.
Piute: Is that a side cover? I am thinging of making a custom pair out of fiberglass, but I also have some sheet aluminum that might be easier.
shinyribs : Thanks for the offer! I don't think so at this point but may have to later on... good to know.
While the body shop type work was going on, I also started in on the engine. The PO had pulled the head, cylinders and pistons. I inspected and measured everything I could think of per the manual and for the life of me can't figure out WHY he did it. Unles it was just to "freshen" things up.
I used kerosene to give it all a good washing, inside and out. Then a used a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol on the outside so the Duplicolor engine enamle wout get a good grip.
