Rear shocks

I have a new (to me) 1975 CB750 with 67,000 miles.  A nice bike that I think sat for a few years.  I am wondering about what kind of the shape the rear shocks are in.  I haven't ridden a motorcycle in about 35 years so I don't have anything to compare.  Is there a way to test if my rear shocks are OK or need replacing?  If they need replacing, where can I get new shocks?
