If you have a dual point ignition theres no spark unit so 1 set of points can be timed correctly to fire off 1/2 the motor while the other set may be out of time with TDC so it may fire plugs but not when you need it.Some times its a frayed wire that is grounding points out if you have spark and its at the right time check plug ends the resistor in plug end may have failed.Good Luck Lee Spillman
