74 V 78 oem exhaust flanges

I'm installing a stock 78 cb 750 engine onto my original 74 cb 750 I've been told most everything interchanges with the sohc 750 engines. First it is the counter shaft which is different. The retainer nut and bolt/washer, chain oiler. Now its the stock exhaust flanges go deeper inside the 74 head and will not bolt up to the 78 engine, as the 74 flanges stick out past the 78 cylinder head and don't fit flush. I wanted to use my stock 74 exhaust onto the newer 78 engine. What do I need to install the exhaust? If the years are correct.
