front forks / wheel interchange on dohc

hey guys

so i have a *'80c  and picked up a '81k cheap for the really nice chrome spoke rims.
rears were straight across fit with the drums. got a 17" on the c now :)

seems the front comstar off the C has a shorter axle (narrower forks)?  than the K (has the air shocks btw)
both single disc.  the axles seem like theyre corroded a bit to the spacers maybe? as i cant seem to figure out how to remove them from the wheels to try keeping original axles/spacers in place, didnt want to just get out a ball peen and a punch, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

givin the k to my son for xmas, runs pretty good even- he is jazzed-starting a new generation on the good old stuff yay
