Still, check that (likely green) groundwire and ALL its connections in the headlight bucket.  Clean all the male couplers 'till their shiny and completely corrosion free, spray with some water-dispacer product and reconnect.  I have been having similar issues on my 82 C and recently solved the three month nightmare (which, I might add, did involve the headlight, turn signal lights, highbeam indicator light, neutral switch, and more) by finally finding corrosion in one of the groundwire connections.

I agree that it could be a dead battery, but I promise checking that wire will be worth your time too.  You might as well clean your connections around your battery and check your positive wire leaving the battery terminal as well.  Amazing what a little bit of acid and some sandpaper can do for the health of your electrical system.
