The wooden box out of 2x4's is what was shown in my motorcycle mechanic's textbook. They are decidedly low-tech, but they work well, if only in a very basic mode.
On a vaguely related note, anyone own one of those bike lifts which raise them up 2-3 feet? I have considered the bike jacks, but they would require an adapter for my Voyager (to avoid crushing the exhaust pipes), and they only raise it up 12-18 inches. It would be sooo much easier if the bike were 3 feet up, or so, off of the ground. A luxury, I know, but it would make my life much easier. Cheers!
