Ya, that.  I've heard that it's possible to get the bike running "ok" with pods on these CV carbs, but there will be a performance decrease that is noticeable.

I know that there are some guys that say they can do it, but when you dig into you find out that it really only runs well at WOT, or there are flat spots somewhere, or some other issue.
