You need to order the correct bolt. Unless you need more trouble.
I would order it from Bike Bandit. They ship very quickly.

It is 12mm X 40mm  do not know the thread pitch.

It has a special shoulder on it.

Bike Bandit does not have it for 1980,1978,or 1977.

You may have to get it from a salvage yard.
It is one of those parts that almost never needs replacing.
