Hi All,

my K2 is jumping out of 1st gear, goes into gear and accelerates nicely until around 3000 rpm when it jumps back into neutral. It will idle & rev on centre stand in 1st gear without a problem, seems under load is the issue. I've taken to pulling away in 2nd but fear this will only lead to a burned clutch or worse if I continue.

Before I consider taking the engine out to get to the transmission to look for worn dogs & bent shift forks is it possible something more simple like the selector could be the problem - or is this just wishful thinking?

The reason i ask is most people i've spoken to say it's usually 2nd & 3rd gear with the problem, so was hoping 1st gear might indicate something less sinister like maybe the gear selector arm, spindle, drum or return spring? if its possible can you also suggest how I might test this scenario.

Any advice appreciated.
Cheers
