Lubing new cables?

Ordered new cables from Vintage CB750 and am getting ready to put them on the bike.
Do they need to be lubed first? I find various posts that say yes, no, yes unless OEM, etc.
Any clues how to find out if these need to be? And if so, with what? I have the little cable luber, so an aerosol will work since I've never gotten the funnel or bag-and-oil method to work, even overnight.
