I did my first chain this year. The gent at the service parts counter told me to wrap a full length chain around the sprockets, measure where to make a cut (measure twice, cut once), and use an angle grinder to cut to length. I ended up cutting off about 8 links, and my chain fits like a glove. As a side note, spend the $5 and buy a chain press tool, it will turn a 2 hour job into a 15 min. job.

Since this is on the same note, I was wondering what I should use to wipe the excess grease off the outside of my chain. I would like to keep it nice and shiny!
