If it were me...
I'd swap out this running engine into your bike and still be able to ride while you go through the original engine.
Swap some 900F cams in there, a little head work, maybe some weisco pistons and CR carbs... make a screamer out of the one your having the compression issues with. (if you still are)
Then you can swap it all back or rebuild the parts bike and stick it in there... have some REAL fun and an empty wallet.
