I doubt this is important but what I fixed when I got to the hardware store is that the front brake fluid resevoir was cracked and leaking, so it is now JB welded and refilled. The stator case on the side of the engine was also cracked, and is also now JB welded.
Also I had a hard time starting it at the hardware store, but that was just because the wires the guy before me had on the battery were taped and the connection was a little loose. Tightening it up with a screwdriver and jiggling the tape got it to start.
