The 82-83 had the one piece seat. The 80-81 had the two piece seat. If you notice the second picture is of an 81 that I had. It was like brand new. I took the 82 in on trade, for it. Those Kawasaki's are pretty reliable. I have a 95 KZ 1000 P-14 Police bike that has 99,978 miles on it. Runs great, but I don't ride it because it needs the brakes gone through, and I could not squeeze the clutch because of an injury to the nerves in my left shoulder. I keep thinking I should sell it, but I can't bring myself to do it. Somewhere on the forum there is a picture of it.
Here is a picture of my other Kawasaki I have. It's also a KZ 750.
