Dodge is putting a diesel in their 1500, should be coming out in early 2014 (I think) (http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/ecodiesel/).  It's the same diesel they have in the grand cherokee.  You still have to deal with all that dpf/urea stuff though!

I've seen a few guys put diesel engines into 1/2 tons, it looked like quite a bit of work though!
