 There are some people that just put a rubber faucet washer in there, then tighten a screw into it to cause it to expand and seal.  Quick and simple fix.  If you spend more than a half hour changing your oil, including the warm up to get the oil hot and flowing, it's because you spilled the oil and have a big cleanup going on.  Just keep track of the o-ring, spring, and washer in the filter housing.
