Sorry I am late on this, realized after I hit "REPLY"
I brought home a couple pieces of this catwalk from work a while back. It's officially called "plank grating" ....weld up a frame out of angle or box and drop in two 24" pieces and you're in business.
You can get it a various metal suppliers but McMaster Carr is always a good place to search for what ever you need. Here is what is available in the style I have.
