Good looking machine.  I'm not like most, but I like the bluing on the chrome exhaust.

As far as the flakes in the filter cover, you might want to check around as best you can with the valve cover off.  The long cam chain on my DOHC bike was loose enough to start chipping off the sides of the cam chain tunnel in the cylinder head. Hopefully, that's not the case here.  A picture of the bits would help.  It may also be normal stuff coming from the clutch, as they share the same oil.
