I've drilled 3 front rotors and 2 rear rotors with the same bit. Its an Irwin brand bit I got from Lowe's. Cobalt coated for about $4. Drilled every single one of them dry and running the drill press at a medium speed. Probably 12-1500 rpm.

After you drill the initial holes you are only 1/3 of the way finished,though. You will have to step up to a larger bit and chamfer both sides of each holes. Or,at least, get a good stone and make sure your holes are filed PERFECTLY SMOOTH! If not any burr at all will eat up a set of pads in no time. I mean instantly.

IMO, they only need turned if they are gouged, but dressing them with some 80 grit by hand keeps them quiet for a little while.

I've been considering offering rotor drilling/chamfering services or maybe even selling the drilling patterns. If there's some interest in this I may set it up.
