I would probably start with a trimming of sorts. I like dual exhausts but maybe a 4-1 is in order.
I would replace the rear shocks and put in some progressive springs in the front. Looks like you removed the big signals already. At least you kept the round headlight, I prefer that look myself.

From there, drop in a set of cb900 cams. Gets a bit more out of the engine without major work.

Hey, maybe a different paint job and you might find it is good enough. Maybe repaint the engine if you end up tearing it apart, I wouldn't powder coat though, doesn't allow for good cooling, stick with high temp paint.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
